There are several types of mouse traps, and in order to eliminate mice, you need one of the right sizes, and your best bet might not be a rat trap.
-Make sure your foundation and wall openings are sealed off with caulk and steel wool to keep mice out.
-Use a humane mouse trap so you don't kill the mouse. Check them more often so you don't leave the live mouse for too long.
-If you suspect a lot of mouse activity in the area, place some peanut butter or cheese or chocolate in the trigger plate, and set your wooden snap trap.
Make sure your lawn and shrubs are trimmed, wood piles away from your house, and don't let them rest against the foundation. Yale Pest Control recommends hiring a professional pest control company.
