The following home remedies are effective in repelling roaches:
- Diatomaceous Earth: Use food-grade DE to coat any surfaces with roach activity.
- Baking Soda: Cut up onions and sprinkle with baking soda. You can place this appetizer anywhere you've noticed roach activity.
- Boric Acid: When cockroaches contact boric acid, it sticks to their legs and wings. It rapidly kills roaches when they ingest the powder, which acts on their nervous and digestive systems.
- Citrus: Lemons have been found to repel roaches. When mopping your floors, add a few drops of lemon oil to the water.
- Essential Oils: Essential oils are an effective natural roach repellant. Mix peppermint or lemongrass essential oil with water and spray the mixture on roaches for best results.
